PPG Sensors

The PPG(Photoplethysmography) is an optical-based technology used to detect transmitting blood volume changes in the microvascular bed of tissue.

At the core of the technology lies two elements: the LED and the Photodiode. The LED is omit light to the skin, the light is partially absorbed in the tissue it is directed to, and the rest of it is either passed to the other side of the tissue or reflected (it depends on the wavelength of light transmitted and the tissue to which it is transmitted).

In our case, we are using a wavelength of 530 nm (green light) directed at the wrist. This wavelength does not penetrate the tissue deep enough to pass through to the other side, and therefore the photodiode is located on the same side as the LED to detect the reflected light.

The photodiode translates the reflected photons into voltage changes which are the signal we see. Given the proper signal processing, it is possible to calculate physiologically parameters like heart rate and more.

PPG allows us to measure Pulse Rate, Respiratory Rate, Blood pressure. (Along with ECG and Spo2 sensors). We have trails proving that our sensor has the same accuracy as the gold standard.

ECG Sensors

Here, at CardiacSense, we are using a 1 lead ECG. CardiacSense gives an Artifacts free medical grade ECG within minutes on which doctors can rely on. This has been made possible with use of Patented CardiacSense ART Sensors & IP protected Algorithm. ART sensors detect any muscular movements while measurement of ECG in Ambulatory condition and Algorithm removes all the ARTIFACTS from ECG.
To detect Abnormal Heart Rhythm, it is enough to use 1 lead ECG (2 electrodes) but to diagnose the problems that are not related to the rhythm of the heart but rather its morphology there is a need for more leads (usually, 12 leads are used).
This technology is not unique to CardiacSense, yet we have improved and modified it to fit the fingers and to be used in combination with

the PPG sensors to give information such as Heart Rate, Spo2 and Blood Pressure (In future).
Why do we need ECG? The doctors do not know how to read the PPG. Whenever the watch detects an arrhythmia, the user will be asked to place two fingers on the side of the watch and it will generate an ECG report to be sent to your doctors immediately. Having the ECG recording along with other vital signs will make it much easier for the doctors to analyze the event


ART Sensors

This is a proprietary sensor developed here at the company whose original purpose was to detect and compensate specifically for the movement of the tendons on the wrist, which severely affects the PPG signal.

This signal correlates well with the main artifacts from which the PPG signal suffers and therefore is used to detect these artifacts and respond accordingly.

Our unique artifact sensor enables us to detect artifact noise and remove this from the data set. With our artifact sensor, we can see even the smallest movements that affect the PPG readings. The ART is the sensor that monitors the Respiratory Rate.

SpO2 - Oxygen Saturation

Combination of two PPG sensors of different wavelengths, one (Red Color) is absorbed more by oxygenated hemoglobin (HbO2) than the deoxygenated hemoglobin (Hb) and the 2nd (Infrared Color) works the opposite way. The Ratio between them is used to determine the level of oxygen (or oxygenated hemoglobin) in the blood, also referred to as Oxygen Saturation (SpO2).

The technology is not new, yet like other sensors, it is going through modifications to work reflectively and also continuously (in future versions).

Respiratory Sensors

CardiacSense measures Respiratory Rate (RR) Breath by Breath with same accuracy as Capnograph. (Gold Standard) through its in-built Respiratory Sensor.
CardiacSense is the first wrist wearable device of its kind that provides long-term, real-time, continuous and non-invasive respiratory rate (RR) monitoring. Monitoring of the RR is essential to detect not only deterioration in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure (CHF), asthma and other chronic conditions, but also sleep apnea.
And If your Respiratory rate remains above or below a chosen breath per minute (BPM), your CardiacSense Watch can notify you. These notifications are available on the user’s mobile dashboard and on Portal as well. Doctor will also get an alert on Doctor’s Portal for immediate medical intervention.

Blood Pressure Monitoring Sensors

CardiacSense monitors Blood pressure without inflated cuff with the ECG, SpO2 and PPG sensors.

The CardiacSense Medical Watch functions as a Cuffless blood pressure watch, in addition to measuring many other medical parameters.

The convenience of being able to measure blood pressure so quickly and easily means that it can be measured more often to get a better sense of the average blood pressure throughout the day, or to determine what the blood pressure is at a specific time when a person might be feeling a particular symptom.

CardiacSense’s Modern sensor technology has given the ability to measure blood pressure electronically without compressing the artery with an inflatable cuff, by measuring the actual pulsations within the artery using a single sensor array.

This means that the pressure can be measured faster and that the monitor itself can be much smaller. The convenience of being able to measure blood pressure so quickly and easily means that it can be measured more often to get a better sense of the average blood pressure throughout the day, or to determine what the blood pressure is at a specific time when a person might be feeling a particular symptom.

As CardiacSense is a wearable blood pressure monitor, it can easily measure your blood pressure wherever you are, whenever you need it, without having to carry around an old-style bulky blood pressure checker.
